This study was done as an assignment from UNESCO Jakarta DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) Unit who wishes to get insight of the museum’s current state as a museum and as an evacuation building as it was designed. The study involved our museologists, field researcher and a safety expert. The study shows how this unique museum has its own limitation in developing the museum content. The study also gives insight how a memorial of a devastating disaster should be treated and established in such careful manner so it would not be a traumatic reminder for survivors, but a lesson learned.
